At Russell Tyler-Ruthton (Ruthton, Minn.) High School, Bouman, as a senior quarterback earned All-state honours. Even in Basketball he earned All-state honours. In Arizona he won National  High School Slam Dunk Contest. At the state level he competed in long jump and high jump. His wife Courtney was a renowned volleyball player at St. Cloud State. The duo has a son Aidan and a daughter Aivary. At South Dakota State his brothers Shane and Troy were starters in the football and basketball teams.
